MANCHESTER CITY ARE ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE TITLE!
The away end bursts into celebration as the whistle is blown on their biggest hurdle of the season.
City were not at their best, but they didn’t need to be. Pep Guardiola’s side just know how to get the job done.
Erling Haaland’s second-half double does the job, but a special mention must go to Stefan Ortega. His saves have perhaps one City the title.
A fourth consecutive Premier League title is within touching distance for the Citizens.
Let’s go and see how it all went.
1′
KICK-OFF: Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Maybe I spoke too soon. The Tottenham fans have found their voice and are backing their side.
The home side get the ball rolling, can they spring a shock against Manchester City?
2′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Tottenham are enjoying their fair share of the ball so far, and Pape Sarr wins the first free-kick of the game.
The Tottenham fans are singing ‘Stand up if you hate Arsenal’. I feel like there will be many anti-Gunners chants tonight.
3′
Erling Haaland battles with Cristian Romero and wins it, he is through on goal.
However, the referee blows for a foul on the Argentine centre-back, which is interesting.
6′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
That is gorgeous football from Tottenham.
They have started brightly, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg plays a stunning switch of play to get Spurs on their way.
They work the ball to Rodrigo Bentancur, and he stings the palms of Ederson with a powerful strike.
That’s enough evidence to show that Tottenham are going to go for it.

11′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Ok, so the atmosphere is not as weird as I thought it would be.
Yes, it’s not particularly loud like it would normally be for this game, but it’s not like Tottenham fans are willing Manchester City on.
They are roaring their side forward when they can.
14′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
While it is not a weird atmosphere, it is eerily quiet.
Manchester City have settled and are starting to stroke the ball around with authority.
Kyle Walker gets acres of space again on the right, being fed by Phil Foden, but his cross is poor.
He had so much time, he had to do better there.
15′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Mickey van de Ven pulls a Phill Jones-esque face as the ball hits him in the face.
Spurs are then in all sorts of bother from a corner, Vicrio can’t punch it clear, but they get away with it.
16′
WHAT A SAVE! Tottenham 0-0 Man City
WOW! Guglielmo Vicario, take a bow.
The Italian goalkeeper makes a sensational stop to deny Phil Foden as he looks certain to score.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a lucky man. It’s his shank that sends the ball into Foden’s path.
Incredible save.
19′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is all over the place.
One minute he is shaking the ball through to Phil Foden, and the next he is the furthest Spurs player up the pitch trying to hold up the ball.
He loses it. Not his best night, so far.
22′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Kyle Walker gets in again!
Tottenham just keep leaving him open, and he gets the ball on the right-hand side for a third time inside 22 minutes.
However, just like before, his pass lets him down. He is causing Spurs all sorts of bother.
25′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
That is lovely from Josko Gvardiol!
Tottenham hit Manchester City on the counter and Rodrigo Bentancur looks for Brennan Johnson as he steams into the box.
His cross is intercepted into the path of Pedro Porro, but Gvardiol knicks the ball and dances around the Spaniard.
Incredible feet there from the Croatian defender.
27′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Pep Guardiola is screaming at his players!
It’s because Manchester City are suddenly under the cosh here, but luckily for them, Tottenham just don’t want to pull the trigger.
They are starting to worry the City backline.
31′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is like if you chose the crowd noise option on TV during the Covid-19 campaign.
It doesn’t quite sound real at times, and you can still hear the players screaming at each other.
34′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Brennan Johnson seems like Tottenham’s best outlet at the moment.
He gets on the ball on the right-hand side and drives into the area. His cross causes Ederson problems as he spills the ball for a corner.
However, from the set-piece, Son Heung-Min spurns a volley well wide.
36′
YELLOW CARD: Tottenham 0-0 Man City (Bentancur)
Phil Foden gets absolutely clattered by Rodrigo Bentancur, but the referee gives advantage.
It takes a minute, but eventually, Bentancur is shown a yellow card, and rightly so. He flies into that challenge.
I wouldn’t want to get tackled like that!
37′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg really is everywhere, he has now popped up on the left-wing.
The Dane shows exactly why he has never played there after James Maddison plays a lovely disguised ball through to him.
It takes two seconds to give the ball away.
39′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
I think the goals have gone to Josko Gvardiol’s head…
The ball is sent to the back post and he tries to acrobatically volley the ball home instead of squaring it for Erling Haaland.
Although it’s a decent try, the ball flies over the bar.
I think he should maybe pass to the Premier League top scorer next time, don’t you?
42′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Pedro Porro gives the referee daggers after he penalizes him for a foul on Phil Foden.
Not sure why, it was a blatant foul.
Then Kevin De Bruyne swings in a poor set-piece straight into the arms of Guglielmo Vicario.
43′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Rodrigo Bentancur, what is that?
The Uruguayan midfielder breaks free and has options, but picks out the Manchester City player…
That was very poor, that was a decent chance.
45′
WHAT A BLOCK! Tottenham 0-0 Man City
This stadium just does weird things to Manchester City…
They have been so poor in this first-half, Rodri and Bernardo Silva both give the ball away.
However, they still find a way into the box and Silva looks like he is about to find the top corner, but Radu Dragusin miraculously gets his body in the way.
City must hate playing here.
HALF-TIME: Tottenham 0-0 Man City
What a strange 45 minutes that was.
It’s one of the oddest matches I have watched. The atmosphere is one reason for that, but also just the general play.
Manchester City seem miles off it. They are misplacing passes, and inviting Spurs onto them at times.
However, Tottenham aren’t much better.
The happiest team at half-time isn’t even playing tonight, and that’s Arsenal.
56′
SECOND HALF: Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Manchester City are going through an intense on-the-pitch huddle before play gets underway.
They know they have to be at it from the whistle at the start of this second half.
Well, there is that whistle. City get us back underway.
47′
WHAT A SAVE! Tottenham 0-0 Man City
Oh my word, it’s another fantastic save from Guglielmo Vicario!
The ball breaks for Kevin De Bruyne in the area, he is in so much space, you just expect the net to ripple.
He pulls the trigger and the balls flies toward goal, but Viacrios leaps across to keep the score level.
Incredible once again from the Italian keeper.
49′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
I have already heard Kevin De Buryne’s name more in the first three minutes of the second half than I did all of the first.
He fires in a lovely bending cross into the area, but it just flies over Phil Foden in the area.
He looks up for it, which is worrying for any Arsenal fans watching.
50′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
This half is already much better from both sides.
This time Tottenham forge forward and Son Heung-Min tries to scoop the ball over Ederson, but he fails to do so.
It turns out the whistle is blown anyway, but it’s still much better football.
51′
Tottenham 0-0 Man City
This half is already much better from both sides.
This time Tottenham forge forward and Son Heung-Min tries to scoop the ball over Ederson, but he fails to do so.
It turns out the whistle is blown anyway, but it’s still much better football.
54′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Tottenham fans respond to going behind by singing ‘Are you watching Arsenal?’.
I’m sure they are, and I’m sure they are in pain right now looking at the scoreline.
55′
SUBSTITUTION: Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Manchester City’s arch-nemesis is on the pitch.
Dejan Kulusevski loves a goal against City and Ange Postecoglou has decided to give him a chance to score another.
Rodrigo Bentancur is the man who makes way, and he is a very angry man.
57′
OUCH! Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Kevin De Bruyne is rolling around in agony.
The Belgian midfielder looks to break and paper Sarr scrapes his foot down the back of his Achilles.
I’m not surprised he is in pain. However, it looks like he is going to be OK after some treatment.
61′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
This is the loudest the stadium has been all night.
It seems the goal has given the Tottenham fans a license to start singing.
All the songs are about Arsenal, unsurprisingly.
63′
YELLOW CARD: Tottenham 0-1 Man City (Romero)
Ederson is on the ground after a challenge from Cristian Romero and the latter is booked.
The players on the pitch look worried and the doctors have raced onto the pitch.
It’s a head injury and Ederson is immobile.
66′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Ederson is on his feet which is good news.
After being monitored by the medical staff he is going to play on.
His first act is to slip over while taking the free-kick.
70′
SUBSTITUTION: Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Ederson is not happy about it, but Manchester City are playing it safe with him, and he is substituted.
Stefan Ortega comes on for the fourth time in place of him this season.
Just as the Brazilian keeper comes off he visibly shows his discontent by kicking the advertising hoardings with anger.
Ederson is not the only player coming off, so is Kevin De Bruyne. Jeremy Doku replaces him.
71′
YELLOW CARD: Tottenham 0-1 Man City (Kovacic)
Mateo Kovacic desperately attempts to stop a quick Tottenham free-kick, and the referee doesn’t like that, so he books him.
That’s one of those silly yellow cards you can do without if you are Manchester City.
72′
BIG SAVE! Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Oh, I thought Tottenham were level!
Dejan Kulusevksi loves a goal against Manchester City and he looks like he is about to get one as the ball bounces to him just a few yards from goal.
However, Stefan Ortega does really well to prevent the ball from squeezing under him.
75′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
I didn’t know Manuel Akanji was that fast…
Brennan Johnson looks like he is away and in on goal, but Akanji just glides across and nabs the ball off him.
That just looked way too easy for him. He barely breaks a sweat!
78′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Dejan Kulusevksi really wants to score today.
This time he decides to let loose outside the area after receiving a corner to feet.
His effort looks good but he bends the ball comfortably over the bar in the end. He probably should do better.
80′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Why didn’t Dejan Kulusevksi pass the ball there?
I know he wants to score but that is silly. The ball breaks to him on the byline again but decides to shoot instead of square the ball for a Spurs shirt to fire home.
Obviously, Stefan Ortega saves comfortably.
84′
Tottenham 0-1 Man City
After a spell of Spurs pressure, it seems Manchester City are gaining control again.
Josko Gvardiol gets caught in between wanting to shoot or pass to Jeremy Doku.
He chooses the latter but his pass is under hit and the hosts get it clear.
Knowing his form, maybe this time he should have gone for goal.
85′
SUBSTITUTION: Tottenham 0-1 Man City
One last throw of the dice from Tottenham.
Oliver Skipp and Giovani Lo Celso come on for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Pape Sarr.
86′
WHAT A CHANCE! Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Oh my word, was that the moment for Tottenham!
Manuel Akanji accidentally heads the ball into the path of Son Hueng-Min and he is through one-on-one.
He has to score, he normally does, but Stefan Ortega races out to smother the ball.
I can’t believe it and neither can Pep Guardiola. he drops to the floor, I’m guessing in relief.
90′
PENALTY TO MAN CITY!
Manchester City have the chance to wrap things up as Porro takes out Jeremy Doku in the area.
This is a huge moment, can Erling Haaland kill the game off?
And maybe even the title race.
91′
GOAL!!! Tottenham 0-2 Man City (Haaland 90+1′)
Erling Haaland smashes the ball into the top left-hand corner with a crazy amount of power.
The away end is in raptures, and so are the celebrations on the pitch.
Manchester City are on the cusp of another title!
93′
Tottenham 0-2 Man City
Tottenham fans are happy, they are singing louder than they have all evening. I think I know why.
There will be 10 added minutes by the way, it was revealed just before Erling Haaland’s second goal.
In addition, 16-year-old Mikey Moore has come on for Tottenham for his senior debut.
95′
SUBSTITUTION: Tottenham 0-2 Man City
No hat-trick for Erling Haaland then.
The Norweigan striker is coming off, and while he plods to the sidelines the Manchester City fans in the corner serenade him.
Julian Alvarez replaces him.
98′
Tottenham 0-2 Man City
The Manchester City away supporters are singing ‘Champions again.’
They are probably right, they are surely just one match away now, and they can almost touch the trophy.
I’m sure all Arsenal fans have turned the television off.
