Tottenham vs Man City: How It All Went

That is gorgeous football from Tottenham.

Ok, so the atmosphere is not as weird as I thought it would be.

The Italian goalkeeper makes a sensational stop to deny Phil Foden as he looks certain to score.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a lucky man. It’s his shank that sends the ball into Foden’s path.

Incredible save.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is all over the place.

One minute he is shaking the ball through to Phil Foden, and the next he is the furthest Spurs player up the pitch trying to hold up the ball.

He loses it. Not his best night, so far.

Kyle Walker gets in again!

Tottenham just keep leaving him open, and he gets the ball on the right-hand side for a third time inside 22 minutes.

However, just like before, his pass lets him down. He is causing Spurs all sorts of bother.

That is lovely from Josko Gvardiol!

Tottenham hit Manchester City on the counter and Rodrigo Bentancur looks for Brennan Johnson as he steams into the box.

His cross is intercepted into the path of Pedro Porro, but Gvardiol knicks the ball and dances around the Spaniard.

Incredible feet there from the Croatian defender.

Pep Guardiola is screaming at his players!

It’s because Manchester City are suddenly under the cosh here, but luckily for them, Tottenham just don’t want to pull the trigger.

They are starting to worry the City backline.

The atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is like if you chose the crowd noise option on TV during the Covid-19 campaign.

It doesn’t quite sound real at times, and you can still hear the players screaming at each other.

Brennan Johnson seems like Tottenham’s best outlet at the moment.

He gets on the ball on the right-hand side and drives into the area. His cross causes Ederson problems as he spills the ball for a corner.

However, from the set-piece, Son Heung-Min spurns a volley well wide.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg really is everywhere, he has now popped up on the left-wing.

That was very poor, that was a decent chance.

This stadium just does weird things to Manchester City…

They have been so poor in this first-half, Rodri and Bernardo Silva both give the ball away.

However, they still find a way into the box and Silva looks like he is about to find the top corner, but Radu Dragusin miraculously gets his body in the way.

City must hate playing here.

What a strange 45 minutes that was.

It’s one of the oddest matches I have watched. The atmosphere is one reason for that, but also just the general play.

Manchester City seem miles off it. They are misplacing passes, and inviting Spurs onto them at times.

However, Tottenham aren’t much better.

The happiest team at half-time isn’t even playing tonight, and that’s Arsenal.

Manchester City are going through an intense on-the-pitch huddle before play gets underway.

They know they have to be at it from the whistle at the start of this second half.

Well, there is that whistle. City get us back underway.

Oh my word, it’s another fantastic save from Guglielmo Vicario!

The ball breaks for Kevin De Bruyne in the area, he is in so much space, you just expect the net to ripple.

He pulls the trigger and the balls flies toward goal, but Viacrios leaps across to keep the score level.

Incredible once again from the Italian keeper.

I have already heard Kevin De Buryne’s name more in the first three minutes of the second half than I did all of the first.

He fires in a lovely bending cross into the area, but it just flies over Phil Foden in the area.

He looks up for it, which is worrying for any Arsenal fans watching.

This half is already much better from both sides.

This time Tottenham forge forward and Son Heung-Min tries to scoop the ball over Ederson, but he fails to do so.

It turns out the whistle is blown anyway, but it’s still much better football.

Tottenham fans respond to going behind by singing ‘Are you watching Arsenal?’.

I’m sure they are, and I’m sure they are in pain right now looking at the scoreline.

Manchester City’s arch-nemesis is on the pitch.

Dejan Kulusevski loves a goal against City and Ange Postecoglou has decided to give him a chance to score another.

Rodrigo Bentancur is the man who makes way, and he is a very angry man.

Kevin De Bruyne is rolling around in agony.

The Belgian midfielder looks to break and paper Sarr scrapes his foot down the back of his Achilles.

I’m not surprised he is in pain. However, it looks like he is going to be OK after some treatment.

This is the loudest the stadium has been all night.

It seems the goal has given the Tottenham fans a license to start singing.

All the songs are about Arsenal, unsurprisingly.

Ederson is on the ground after a challenge from Cristian Romero and the latter is booked.

The players on the pitch look worried and the doctors have raced onto the pitch.

It’s a head injury and Ederson is immobile.

Ederson is on his feet which is good news.

After being monitored by the medical staff he is going to play on.

His first act is to slip over while taking the free-kick.

Ederson is not happy about it, but Manchester City are playing it safe with him, and he is substituted.

Stefan Ortega comes on for the fourth time in place of him this season.

Just as the Brazilian keeper comes off he visibly shows his discontent by kicking the advertising hoardings with anger.

Ederson is not the only player coming off, so is Kevin De Bruyne. Jeremy Doku replaces him.

Oh, I thought Tottenham were level!

Dejan Kulusevksi loves a goal against Manchester City and he looks like he is about to get one as the ball bounces to him just a few yards from goal.

However, Stefan Ortega does really well to prevent the ball from squeezing under him.

That’s huge!

I didn’t know Manuel Akanji was that fast…

Brennan Johnson looks like he is away and in on goal, but Akanji just glides across and nabs the ball off him.

That just looked way too easy for him. He barely breaks a sweat!

Dejan Kulusevksi really wants to score today.

This time he decides to let loose outside the area after receiving a corner to feet.

His effort looks good but he bends the ball comfortably over the bar in the end. He probably should do better.

After a spell of Spurs pressure, it seems Manchester City are gaining control again.

Josko Gvardiol gets caught in between wanting to shoot or pass to Jeremy Doku.

He chooses the latter but his pass is under hit and the hosts get it clear.

Knowing his form, maybe this time he should have gone for goal.

Erling Haaland smashes the ball into the top left-hand corner with a crazy amount of power.

The away end is in raptures, and so are the celebrations on the pitch.

Tottenham fans are happy, they are singing louder than they have all evening. I think I know why.
