The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has today, declared a 2-day national strike set to take place on the 27th and 28th of February 2024.
According to the national president of the body, Joe Ajaero, the protest was declared to press the demands on the current hardship being faced by Nigerians.
He said the Federal Government should not flout the deadline of the 14-day ultimatum.
The organised labour lamented that millions of Nigerian workers are facing hunger, erosion of purchasing power and insecurity due to reforms that drove up inflation.
This followed President Bola Tinubu’s decision to scrap a popular but costly fuel subsidy last May and his administration’s lifting of restrictions on currency trading, which more than tripled petrol prices.
He also accused the President Bola Tinubu-led government of failing to respond to the needs of citizens.
The NLC boss made the declaration during a press conference at the Labour House in Abuja.
