Thirty-three countries and 590 schools globally participated in the 4th edition of the Mathematics for Life Foundation’s virtual competition for Senior Secondary and High School Students worldwide.
Welkin International Schools, Atan-Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, emerged victorious in both senior and junior categories, with Emmanuel Olusanya winning in the senior category and Ireoluwa Olajide in the junior category.
At the awards ceremony held at Welkin International School’s premises, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the Commissioner for Education in Ogun State, commended the school for bringing honor to the state. Represented by Mr. Sadiq Obafemi, the commissioner extended congratulations to the parents of the award-winning students and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing education.
Mr. Adebayo Beckley, Chairman of Welkin International Schools, expressed joy at the achievement, emphasizing the significance for the school and parents, and praising the students’ dedication.
Osuntuyi Omoniyi, President of the Mathematics for Life Foundation, expressed pride in awarding the 2024 WMT awards to Welkin International Schools’ students and highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to improving education standards.
Reflecting on the competition’s history, Omoniyi celebrated its growth and noted the Foundation’s initiatives to empower students and eradicate illiteracy.
Mr. Emmanuel Adesina Ilebiyi, representing the Olu of Atan-Ota Aworiland, conveyed the community’s pride in the school’s achievement, emphasizing its reputation for academic excellence.
Mr. Alalade Matthew Oluwaseun, Coordinator of the Competition Department and HOD Mathematics at Welkin, attributed the school’s success to divine providence and expressed gratitude for parental support.
The ceremony was attended by the Proprietress of the school, Mrs. Victoria Olubunmi Beckley, and other esteemed members of the management team.
