President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers and has committed to revising the national minimum wage law every three years.
The announcement was made at a meeting with the leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
Presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga stated that the President also pledged to explore avenues to support the private sector and sub-national entities in implementing the minimum wage.
“The Labour leaders applauded President Tinubu for the fatherly gesture as the President also promised to use his discretionary powers meet the demands of university unions demanding unpaid 4 months salaries,” Onanuga said.
