Authorities have announced that human remains were discovered by hikers on Saturday in a mountainous region of Southern California. This is the same area where British actor Julian Sands went missing five months ago.
The body was discovered around 10am in wilderness near Mount Baldy.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the discovered remains will be transported to the coroner’s office for identification in the coming week, according to their statement.
Julian Sands, a passionate hiker and mountaineer, was reported missing on January 13 after embarking on a hike in a peak that stands at over 10,000 feet east of Los Angeles. Severe winter storms had affected the region during that time.
In a recent development, Sands’ family has issued their first statement since his disappearance. They expressed their enduring love for Julian, cherishing fond memories of him as a remarkable father, husband, explorer, admirer of the natural world and the arts, and as a distinctive and collaborative performer.
